Happy Easter Again

Betsy looks a little less disheveled in these Easter photos...no large bunny with lifeless eyes to freak her out... ;)

It wouldn't be a church service (at least for Betsy) without snacks! Here we are in the foyer, watching the service on TV with all the other parents of fussy babies and squirmy toddlers. (The nursery was so packed full we didn't even try it!)

That's my scrunchy faced smiley girl...another new favorite photo!

Pretty dress, granola bar in one hand and Thomas in the other...it doesn't get any better than this!

Whew...it's exhausing being this pretty.

Happy Easter from the Detweilers!

Cookout

We had a little cookout last week before it turned frigid and snowy again. Betsy liked her hot dog ("meat!" she exclaimed) and potato chips but was not thrilled with roasted marshmallows. She has a texture issue...too sticky!

Sidewalk chalk...

... is fun...on the sidewalk...on my face...anywhere!

Betsy and the Butterflies

We escaped the 20 degree temperatures and blowing lake effect snow by heading to Frederick Meijer Gardens and enjoying the tropical plants and butterflies in the 80 degree greenhouse! Betsy loved all the butterflies flitting around her, exclaiming over and over "Futterfies!" There were so many different varieties, big, small, all different colors and shapes. Really beautiful and appropriate for celebrating Easter! If God can transform a wormy caterpillar into these magnificent butterflies, it is truly unfathomable what He is making of us!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17

She really wasn't pouting...her lips are chapped and I think she was sucking on them cause they hurt!

Tree Nymph
(Myron took some great close-up shots!)

Betsy flapping her wings, pretending to be a "futterfie" herself!

Lovely orchids!

Betsy and Daddy

Betsy and Mommy getting a closer look.

This beautiful one is called Postman. Couldn't they give it a prettier name?

Giant Owl (which is what Betsy calls it since that eye looks just like an owl!)

Betsy kept saying, "Look, Futterfie!" and then "Where did it go?" when they flew by. :)

The giant Blue Morpho--amazing to see in person...so big!

Another pretty Postman...isn't Myron a good photographer?!

Happy Easter!

From the looks of this picture, the Easter Bunny had to rough Betsy up a bit to get her to pose for this picture!

Palm Sunday Tradition

We took pictures of Betsy last year on Palm Sunday in front of the lavendar crocuses in our front yard so we decided to do it again this year. (Unfortunately her dress is kind of hiked up awkwardly...oh well...when you're 19 months old it's cute. We'll be sure she is adequately covered when we take this picture when she's 15!)

Back home Again from Indiana

We had a great week at Grandma and Grandpa's but it was still good to be home. Betsy was especially glad to see her Daddy and her puppy. :)

Visiting with Grandma and Grandpa

While Daddy was away on business last week Betsy and I headed down to Indiana and had a fun time with Grandma and Grandpa. Here are some highlights of our little vacation!

Ice cream was the theme of the week since it started out feeling like summer...it was 85 on Monday and Tuesday! (I wonder if all that ice cream had anything to do with Betsy bouncing off the walls until after 10 every single night!)

Here is Betsy modeling her new rain coat and boots. "Grandpa, do you think these boots make my legs look chubby?"

Betsy met some new friends. Little Benjamin Nathan Bryant--the first baby for Mommy's best friend Rachael and her hubby Jonathan. She thought he was very cute and wanted to share her sippy cup with him. But, after Mommy held him for awhile, she decided that enough was enough and gently pushed him away saying, "Put it back." :)

We also had a lovely lunch with Mommy's high school pal Kirstin. Kirstin shared her chips with Betsy so now she is Betsy's best friend for life! :)

This is my new favorite picture. Betsy was sitting on the couch watching Little Einsteins (her second favorite show next to Elmo) and she just looked over at me with this sweet smile just as I snapped her picture. I love how she's holding on to her chubby little toes. :)

Cuddling with Grandma and some popcorn...give this girl food and she'll be your pal always!
Thanks Gam-ma and Papa for a fun week! :)
