Valentine from Uncle Joel and Aunt Wendy!
Betsy got her very first Valentine present from Uncle Joel and Aunt Wendy last week. Aunt Wendy went to Disneyworld a few weeks ago and got Betsy her very own Baby Pluto complete with his own carrier/blanket and bone! She also included a very fun book and some yummy mini-MnMs! Thanks Joel and Wendy!
Betsy immediately dubbed this puppy "Hot Dog"...she recognized him from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, during which they sing a song called "Hot Dog." :)

Some Sweet Betsy Goodness for Your Enjoyment
This pink bag will complete my lovely ensemble!
Shopping for coffee mugs (or as Betsy would say "top-pee") at the Disney store.
Do you dare me to drink out of this?
Valentine's Day date with Daddy
Valentine's Day carousel ride with Mommy (does yelling "No, no, no" they entire ride mean you're having fun? Hmmm...I' didn't think so either.)

A couple more cool tricks
Betsy has started trying to spell her name. We often write it for her and spell it out so now she will say "eat-s-WHY"...her way of saying B-E-T-S-Y! :)
She's also started saying "I need..." Such as "I need Mama," "I need toast." "I need Daddy."
And she loves singing Old McDonald...most of it is rather hard to recognize until she gets to
E-I-E-O. She does the animal sounds very well too. Chicken (bock-bock), sheep (baaa), cow, (moo-moo-moo)....
So cute...

SpongeBetsy LearningBrains
Everyone says it..."At this age, kids are like sponges..." Well, it certainly is true in our household these days! Here is a short list of Betsy's newest amazing feats:
She recognizes the letter "E" and just today pointed out the number "9." She also knows "O" most of the time too.
She can correctly identify pictures of zebras, elbows, airplanes (pronouced aw-pan), Thomas the Tank Engine (Ma-mas), and mice.
When she sees Disney characters like Goofy and Pluto she says "ha dog"--referring the song entitled "Hot Dog" that they sing on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
She recognizes the Nickelodeon logo as being associated with SpongeBob!
Since she often ends up in the bathroom with me when I'm using the facilities she has started pulling off a bit of toilet paper and reaching around to her backside to mimic Mommy (blush). :P
One of her favorite books (which was also one of my favorites) is Pierre by Maurice Sendak. When she wants me to read it to her she gives it to me and says "I o caw" because all Pierre will say in the book is "I don't care."
The other day she had peanut butter and jelly and yogurt for lunch. I set her up in her chair and went in the other room for a minute. When I came back she had carefully painted each piece of sandwich with a little bit of yogurt. :)
She is getting really good at using a spoon and fork and wants to use them more than she wants to use her fingers.
She's also really good at climbing and falling down, which isn't so cool. The other day I heard her give a little worried whimper and realized that she was head down at the top of the stairs, supporting herself with one hand to keep from falling on down head first. We went to Target and bought a really solid gate the next morning!
One day I will be a famous painter in Paris and I will wear raspberry berets every day!
Gotta dance, gotta dance!

A lovely handknit shawl from our kind neighbor Joe. Betsy loves it. She wore it all morning at church without whipping it off, which says a lot about how much you like something when you're a toddler!
