My Amazing Kid

OK...so I realize that Betsy is no more accomplished than any other toddler, but since I'm her mom, I can be amazed by every little thing! So here, for your enjoyment (or annoy-ment, depending on who you are!) is a new list of Betsy's latest accomplishments:

Words:
apple
baby
Mommy
Daddy
Kitty
woof
meow
moon
wow
owl
ball
fish
thank you
please (sign language)
hi
bye bye
no
beep
toot (like a the train whistle we hear every once in a while)
Grandpa
Grandma
pig
boot
shoe
eye

  • She likes to climb into the recliner and lounge while watching TV
  • Last night while looking at Where the Wild Things Are she got to the page where they are all howling at the moon and dancing around and she started making partying sounds. I've only read it to her a handful of times and when we would get to that page I would make whooping sounds...and she remembered!
  • We went to the mall the other night and she was amazed by all the Christmas lights--she walked around pointing and saying wow over and over.
  • She's getting better and better at using a spoon and fork.
  • She looks at a book called "Mooncake" and makes counting sounds because in that book the little bear builds a rocket and counts down to blastoff.
  • Whenever she sees Sesame Street characters she laughs like the Count!
  • She knows where her head, eyes, nose, mouth, belly, and toes are.
  • She loves to brush her own teeth.
  • She knows that there is a picture of an owl on the last page of one of her books and she will turn to the back of other books that are the same size as that one to find the owl.
  • She can recognize and name the moon and owls even in pictures where they look very different (very tiny owl; cresent moon or whole moon)

OK...that's probably way more than anyone except Grandma Karen wanted to know! But it helps me keep track of all these precious little moments to remember later too! :) Cause soon she's going to be a teenager and I'll want to remind myself of the cute little girl who thought I was the best thing in the world!
